Kinship's motto is to unite people through "blood, values, experiences or interests," and the NYC-based brand has typically lived up to this ethos by honoring musicians we all love. Kinship's past bombers have celebrated female hip-hop and R&B icons from the '90s, golden era rap albums, Dipset, and Bad Boy Records. However, Kinship is taking on some heavier fare with its latest jacket, which pays tribute to the Black Panther Party.
The jacket is patched with the Black Panther's logo, the word "Revolutionary," and the year 1966, which is when the party was founded. The lining resembles Kinship's previous bombers with an all-over print of Black Panther pictures, including the center image of Black Panther co-founder Huey P. Newton. The jacket comes in full leather, or with a wool body and leather sleeves.
Kinship hopes that the jacket will recall the Black Panther Party's founding principles of protection and creating social programs in the community.
The lookbook for the jacket features rapper Tek from Smif-n-Wessun, and the jacket has already been worn by Jim Jones and Prodigy of Mobb Deep.
