Joan Rivers passed away back in September after complications from vocal chord surgery at New York’s Yorkville Endoscopy. Rivers will be remembered as a great comedian who inspired generations of comics and women to pursue their dreams, and she was honored at last night's Grammys with the win for Best Spoken Word Album. Following the Grammys win, CNBC reports that Rivers' penthouse apartment on New York's Upper East Side has been returned to the market, and the asking price matches the property's regal appearance.
Listed for $28 million, the 5,000-square-foot penthouse is located at 1 East 62nd St., a former limestone mansion from the Gilded Age that Ernest Hemingway also called home. The penthouse (which was a later addition) spans the top three floors of the building and has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and more gold gilding than most Vegas hotels. Rivers served on the condo board for the building, and once referred to her design aesthetic as "Louis XIV meets Fred and Ginger" (the former king of France and iconic dance duo, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers).

Rivers talked about how much she loved the building and about her position as President of the condo board in an interview with the New York Times back in 2012 when the home was on the market for $29 million. There were great design features, like a fake bookcase that revealed a giant television and liquor stash, but it was also just a place where she could relax and paint in the bathroom.
