There’s no doubt Travi$ Scott killed it in 2014. From starring in a Raf Simons x Sterling Ruby lookbook for RSVP Gallery to the release of his highly anticipated Days Before Rodeo mixtape, the 22-year-old artist gained impressive momentum within the last year. And judging by his recent feature in CR Fashion Book, 2015 will be even bigger, especially since he announced his debut album Rodeo will drop in March.

Founded by former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, the bi-annual fashion publication is known to push the envelope in risky and unexpected ways. Celebrities like Beyonce, Kate Upton, and even baby North West have graced the pages of this celebrated book, which recently named Scott as “hip hop’s next big thing.” Within the issue, the rapper/producer discusses everything from the launch of his career to the upcoming release of his first full album to his hopes of one day getting into movies. But naturally, the primary focus of the story was on the roots of his distinct fashion taste.

“My mom worked for Louis Vuitton. She was a retailer. So she always dressed me in shit. But I didn’t understand it when I was little,” Scott told CR Fashion Book, before expanding on his fashion influences. “Raf [Simons] is cool ‘cause it always looked like a street brand. I looked up to [Kid] Cudi a lot and Western movies [as well].”
