Bowes Museum in Britain will hold the first-ever Yves Saint Laurent exhibition in the UK starting this July. The retrospective, "Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal," is a collaborative effort between the museum and the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent, which is run by Saint Laurent's former business and life partner, Pierre Bergé.

The exhibit will showcase over 50 pieces of Saint Laurent's most famous work, and look back at the designer's career, returning all the way to his tenure as creative director at Christian Dior. The show will also include insight into Saint Laurent's inspirations.

Bergé was instrumental in the rise of Saint Laurent, and his involvement ensures authenticity. "The Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent is committed to the promotion of the work of Yves Saint Laurent internationally, and as such it is extremely exciting to work on this first exhibition in the UK," Bergé told British Vogue. He went on to say that Bowes Museum was chosen because "Its location ... clearly reflects Saint Laurent's, and my own, passion for inspiring, timeless places. It is the perfect setting for us - a museum built as a French chateau, in the age of the Second Empire."

The museum's fashion curator, Joanna Hashagen, said the exhibition will be "An innovative display that will introduce a dialogue between the designer's body of work and the museum's collection."

Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal will run from July 11 to Oct. 25.
