According to TMZ, in a deposition filed by the photographer from a run-in at LAX, Kanye West says he was convicted of felony back in 2000 for an incident at an OfficeMax in his home state of Illinois. He also says that he was a victim of racial profiling at the hands of the police and that he was innocent.

In the new document acquired by TMZ, Kanye is quoted saying that he was "racially profiled for having a white T-shirt and braids." He was accused of stealing printers, but says that he was already a "platinum producer" at the time and that the cops doctored the forms to frame him. "I was driving a white Ford Expedition. When I saw the police report, they crossed out where it said 'Cream Ford Explorer,'" he said.

TMZ reports that in the deposition, Kanye "gets sketchy, not explaining where cops found him," but he was adamant that it was the braids and his outfit that led to the felony. The opposing lawyer pushed back and said that it "wasn't in the charge that you were... a platinum producer," to which Kanye responded, "Yeah, I believe so. I think that's what -- I think that's what -- where America had me at that time for having braids."
