Coach just debuted its first full men's ready-to-wear collection over the weekend, and from the looks of it Creative Director Stuart Vevers is not wasting any time establishing Coach as the new kid on the block to watch when it comes to high fashion menswear.

The presentation took place at the former Central Saint Martins college in London on Friday. The 1991 indie film My Own Private Idaho provided the inspiration for the overall aesthetic of the collection, as did the need for functional winter street style in Vevers’ home of New York City. "New Yorkers are quite practical, and they don’t sacrifice function," Vevers told WWD. “There are no tricks—the collection is straightforward with honest construction." Before joining Coach, Vevers held the Creative Director position at Loewe, an almost two-century-old Spanish leather house owned by the LVMH group.

The inclusion of menswear in Coach's offerings is just the latest move by the label as it executes what can be described as a "brand transformation" that includes closing certain stores, opening new ones, and the acquisition of footwear luxury footwear label Stuart Weitzman.
