We're all guilty of complaining about the cold from time to time (step your winter essentials game up now), but after seeing the photos below, we will never do that again. Photographer Amos Chapple spent some time in the village of Oymyakon in Russia, and in the city of Yakutsk, two places that are considered to be among the coldest inhabited spots on the planet. Yakutsk temperatures often dip well below zero, reaching an average of -30 °F, and Oymyakon (which ironically means "non freezing water") set the world record when they saw a -90 °F day back in 1933. Hearing those temperatures is one thing, but seeing Chapple's photos of the people who inhabit these places makes it real.

According to Petapixel, Chapple found it difficult to even operate his camera in the frigid conditions because the zoom and focus rings on his lens would become frozen.
