British welterweight boxer Amir Khan will take on Devon Alexander at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday. And he’ll do so wearing $50,000 gold trunks.
That’s right, the former two-time world champion is expected to don a pair of shorts that feature white nappa leather, crocodile embossed panels, and genuine 24-carat gold thread woven through the waist band.
The ensemble is a fitting choice for the 28-year-old, who says a win on Saturday might lead him to a fight against the sport’s biggest name: Floyd Mayweather aka “Money” for expensive taste.
Whatever the outcome, at least Khan can say his shorts made history.
