A woman was out celebrating her cousin's bachelorette party in New York at the upscale Gansevoort Hotel's rooftop bar, Plunge, when she was stabbed with a stiletto heel by a complete stranger. Now, the punctured woman, Amanda Kesioglu, is suing the hotel for $5 million after enduring an attack she believes could have been prevented, reports the New York Post.

According to the lawsuit, Kesioglu only got mixed up in the attack after the assailant, Belgian tourist Marie Thys, started fighting another person. Then, Thys grabbed Kesioglu, who was caught in the crossfire, and turned her around to skewer her with the stiletto. The shoe stayed lodged in the wound (which can be seen below) until Thys could be pulled away, at which point the puncture started gushing blood. “I felt hot liquid,” the victim said. “I sat down and plugged [the wound] with my finger.”

Kesioglu was in the hospital for several days after the attack. She blames the Gansevoort, which kept serving her attacker after Thys was already "belligerent and violent against other patrons." “They completely failed at keeping me and the other girls safe,” Keisoglu said.

Bizarre attacks like this, such as the man who attacked his hunting partner for turning down his sexual advances, or the guy who bit his female roommate, seem to all have one thing in common: alcohol. Maybe it's time to take a good, hard look in the mirror and really ask ourselves, "Turn down for what?"
