Debuting for Spring/Summer 2015, The Fourness is Kazuki Kurashi's new solo-label. The Tokyo-born, U.S. educated fashion/graphic designer has previously designed for adidas, BapeFragment Design, Levis, and Neighborhood, and is the mind behind adidas' 84-Lab line, having been appointed as one of adidas' creative product managers.

His designs have always been well received, thanks to his careful attention to design, material, and function, which inspired a new phase of his career. The name derives from psychotherapist Carl Jung’s “Four Functional Types” of the psyche, a theory whereby personality traits can be measure through Feeling, Intuition, Thinking and Sensation. Kurashi is clearly Zen AF, and channels it into his chilled out, but highly detailed and well thought-out take on menswear.

Strong outerwear defines the collection, with the small details like carry straps on the inside—perfect for when you have to strip off a layer—elevating the collection beyond the realm of your everyday menswear label. The Japanese ethos of function and form working in a perfect balance is visible, successfully running throughout the collection, and the move away from streetwear has suited Kurashi down to the ground; "The Fourness is more focused on men’s fashion elements – I design detailed tailored jacket and shirts, adding a stronger preference of fabric, stitching and silhouette."
