Atlanta rapper Raury just sat down for an interview with MTV that goes into what drives the 18-year-old behind one of the hottest releases of the year, Indigo Child. Raury is notable for his unique style in both his music and in his approach to fashion, the latter with his signature sunhat.

When asked about his hat, Raury explains that a two-week program out in the woods where he "had to poop in a hole, use biodegradable tissue and stuff like that" is what prompted him to start wearing it nonstop:

"That experience is responsible, somewhat, for why I write and produce the way I do and it ties into the story of why I wear the hat. Those situations out in the woods challenged my soul and challenged me as a person. And throughout that process I wore a sunhat and it always reminds me what I went through was out there and keeps me grounded in a way. My favorite accessory is 'the Raury Hat.'"

You can read the whole interview, which touches on Raury's musical inspirations as well as what Kanye West is like, here.
