Barbour is collaborating with adidas Originals for Fall/Winter 2014 on a collection that explores three themes—“Country,” “Spectator,” and “Military”—that unite the two brands.

Country, the first theme, pays homage to Barbour’s countryside heritage and remakes the brand’s iconic Beaufort wax jacket. The jacket is made with heavy 8 oz beeswax and adds a number of extra leather trims to the jacket’s hem, pocket, and hood, while staying true to the outerwear’s signature shape. The three stripes of perforated dots on the hood is presumably a nod to adidas’ trademark three-stripe design.

The Spectator story leans towards adidas’ intertwined history with sports. Adidas’ partnership with many soccer/football clubs is familiar territory for an outerwear brand like Barbour. The Spectator capsule contains two pieces of outerwear: The Johbar jacket, which takes a classic Barbour wax jacket and adds colorful, contrasting sleeves, as well as the quilted Roubarb jacket, which borrows its colors from the track as well as adidas’ famous Beckenbauer track jacket and is equipped with waterproof zips.

The Military story is inspired by a jacket that Barbour customized for a British army captain in the ‘80s. The fully murdered out Baradi jacket is most likely the gem of this collection with numerous pockets, including one with a transparent lining, and a camo lining.

Even though adidas Originals has recently unveiled collaborations with big-name celebrities like Pharrell, Nigo, and Big Sean, this collection with Barbour still stands out among the crowd.

The collection will be available at adidas Consortium partner stores and selected Barbour location on Nov. 8.
