Powerhouse Japanese retailer Uniqlo is moving into higher education courtesy of a new program at Harvard. Uniqlo is offering two fellowships a year starting in 2015 — one at Harvard Business School and one at Harvard University Graduate School of Design — to Japanese students already accepted into either program. Sorry American students! You'll just have to get into Harvard the old-fashioned way, by having enormously wealthy parents.

The fellowships will be awarded one per year to each program for three years, resulting in six Japanese nationals receiving the funds. The amount allotted to the fellowships is a whopping $1.2 million, but applicants will have to go through a rigorous process of submitting materials and interviewing with Harvard and Uniqlo officials.  They will of course also be given positions with the Fast Retailing (Uniqlo's parent company) intern program and groomed for Uniqlo leadership.

Does this mean more tweeds and New England knits in Uniqlo's future? Check out the current crop of clothes here.
