It’s hard to believe that your crappy childhood toys had this much artistic potential. In his series "Invisible Light," Australian photographer Brendan Fitzpatrick takes a second, or better yet, a deeper look into the toys of yesteryear. Focused on toys picked up in secondhand shops, Fitzpatrick’s photographs marry familiar objects with medical equipment like X-ray and mammogram machines, producing fascinating visuals that examine "the extraordinary visual potential of radiology.”

To the naked eye, most of the toys in this series appear quite usual, but Fitzpatrick proves that it really is what's on the inside that counts. It's not until Fitzpatrick reveals their inner complexities that these old toys take on an air of modernity. As cool as his toy photographs may be, Fitzpatrick’s exploration of radiology doesn't stop there. He’s also X-rayed wildlife ranging from chicken eggs to orchids.  The only question left is what will he X-Ray next?
