For decades, Dr. Martens has been the footwear of choice for various subcultures, but no tribe has embraced its classically tough aesthetic more so than the original skinheads of the 1960s.

Emphasizing back-to-basics sensibilities and meticulous detailing, Dr. Martens celebrates this era with the launch of its Spirit of ’69 capsule collection, a modern interpretation of the attitude and look of this highly influential group. In an effort to maintain authenticity, the British footwear giant has teamed up with a handful of brands that were greatly involved with skinhead culture in its earliest days.

The collection includes trim-fit shirts from Brutus, bleached denim from Edwin Jeans, MA-1 flight jackets from Alpha Industries, and a limited-edition record box made in collaboration with Trojan Records. The key feature in this release, however, is definitely the revival of Dr. Martens' 1960s boot design. All elements—from shape to color to shoelaces—were replicated to create an exact copy of the original, which is so sharp that it avoids looking out-of-date even today.

Check out images from the collection’s lookbook below, and be sure to cop your favorite items once the Spirit of ’69 capsule drops next month.
