Back in February, Oakley hosted a series of multimedia events designed by Moment Factory for their new "Disruptive by Design" campaign. Recently, in partnership with Designboom, the company announced the launch of a competition to find "#disruptors who will challenge expectations and amaze the world with their approach to design."

Contestants are invited to submit a new design in any format (not an adaptation) that will "disrupt elite sports performance in a way that hasn’t been seen before." Submissions must answer a series of questions about the design and its inspirations, it's purpose, and how the designer plans to "use the inspiration to disrupt the conventional." Designers will upload a 15-second "moving image video" to Vine, YouTube, Instagram, or Vimeo that showcases their design, share six images of the design, and write a 500-word statement that tells the story of your invention (full submission guidelines here).

A panel of judges will select the winning designs to be featured on Designboom, and the two #disruptors will be flown to California for a tour of Oakley's One Icon headquarters and SpaceX, lunch with the design team, workshops at the Art Center College of Design, portfolio reviews, and the opportunity to have their design 3D printed as a prototype.
