Even Before There Was Photoshop, People Have Been Editing and Manipulating Photos to Look Awesome

It's hard to believe these photos aren't a product of Photoshop but the result of 19th century master photographers turned editing pros.

Even in the realm of Photoshopped images, there exists the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some Photoshop jobs turn out pretty dope, some terrible ... and some aren't the product of Photoshop at all? Believe it or not, the series of photo manipulations you see above were created even before our go-to photo editor existed.

It turns out, photographers from the early 1900s have been editing and doctoring their photos to look trippy and awesome through a number of techniques. Some methods included multiple exposure (taking two or more snapshots on a single negative), combination printing (producing one print from two or more negatives), photomontage, and retouching right on the negative.
