While still pursuing his degree in physics, Dublin-based mathematician David Whyte picked up a hobby: creating GIFs. His creations, which can be found on his blog, Bees & Bombs, were inspired by math, science, and pop culture. After a few months of playful tinkering, Whyte got serious and stepped his game up with Processing (an open source programming language that assists in the creation of images and animation). This tool helped him design some of the most widely shared GIFs on the Internet. While each of his designs are unique, they do share some properties; they’re usually geometric and involve only a few shapes and colors. Check out his blog to see more of his awesome animations and, if you’re interested, check out his methods and source code (he posts it online!)
