Just as they did with famous album covers a short while ago, The Guardianlooked to Halley Docherty to create magic using old photographs from World War II and current imagery from Google Street View. Docherty was able to match the exact locations shown in the photos of cities including Paris, New Westminster, Warsaw, San Antonio, and New York, to their more recent digital views.

The series includes landmarks like Times Square and the Champs-Elysées, as well as bomb sites and random intersections. Even though most of us weren't alive to view these places or the war, Docherty transports us back and provides a cool look at how things have changed and/or how things have stayed the same.
