President Barack Obama hasn't had the best luck when it comes to taking selfies. First there was the controversial selfie he took at Nelson Mandela's memorial service with Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, now the White House is considering banning selfies with the POTUS following a marketing stunt by Boston Red Sox hitter David Ortiz.

While visiting the White House with the rest of the team last week, Ortiz snapped a photo with Obama that was retweeted and favorited over 40,000 times. What the White House says they didn't know is that Ortiz took the photo as a part of his marketing deal with Samsung and their Galaxy Note 3. Samsung was also behind Ellen DeGeneres' most retweeted selfie of all time at the Oscars, so clearly they have social media figured out. White House senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer told Face the Nation that the President and the White House were unaware of the marketing deal and have since "had conversations with Samsung about this and have expressed our concerns."

So if you find yourself at the White House and aren't allowed to stunt on Instagram, thank David Ortiz for killing your dreams.
