In their first U.S. exhibition, the nine artists who make up the GCC (a reference to the Gulf Cooperation Council) will present works in the form of a retrospective at MoMA PS1. Founded in 2013, the collective "makes use of ministerial language and celebratory rituals associated with the Gulf to create videos, photographs, sculptures, and installations that examine the region’s rapid transformation in recent decades."

Opening on March 23 and showing through May 25, "GCC: Achievements in Retrospective" is organized by assistant curator Christopher Y. Lew. The exhibition will provide a look at contemporary Gulf culture in an attempt to "excavate the undocumented culture" of the region that they represent.
