A new tablet by the wizards over at Qualcomm lets users draw with real ink on a sheet of paper, as the strokes also appear on the screen of the device in real time. Using tiny microphones, the Snapdragon 85 can hear ultrasonic vibrations emitting from the device’s digital pen, as the user draws or writes on old-fashioned tree pulp. It seems almost too far-fetched to be real, but as the video above shows, it is anything but false. There are possibilities for colors, effects, deleting, and editing that can be accomplished on the tablet that obviously can’t be realized on the real sheet of paper. This is effectively drawing with sound—an incredible innovation.
