Co-founder of the Oracle Corporation and all-around businessman Larry Ellison is an avid art collector. The billionaire recently loaned the Metropolitan Museum of Art a rare Claude Monet painting titled Adolphe Monet Reading in a Garden so that it could compliment a painting in the museum's collection, Garden at Sainte-Adresse. The works contain similar themes and both depict Monet's father Adolphe in the same outfit enjoying nature. Museum curator Susan Alyson Stein told the New York Times that "by seeing the paintings together, you get a keen sense of what Monet was about in the 1860s."
The painting will remain at the Met for six months and will be returned to Ellison's personal collection.
