On October 10, the Bleecker Street Arts Club (BSAC) will present a group exhibition entitled "Meet Your Maker" featuring works from five artists that utilize pop culture to convey deep and interesting messages: Todd James, Sue Williams, Devin Troy Strother, Joyce Pensato, and Sylvia Jeffriess.
While each artist in the show does use animation and there are threads that link them all, they do so in very unique ways and for very different reasons. From Sue Williams' focus on gendered issues, to Strother's themes and depiction of racial identity and Pensato's use of all of the above, the show provides a wide range of material with enough commonalities that it isn't just a collection of random pieces thrown together because someone liked them aesthetically. For more information about the show, head to the BSAC website.
