A dynamic presence in the New York underground art scene, Romon Kimin Yang—known otherwise as Rostarr—has used calligraphy as a component of his work for years. In the video above, posted by the Bedford and Bowery New York Magazine blog, we can see the artist applying his “graphysics” style to a mural wall in the space. His fluid forms and intricate knots come together before our eyes in time-lapse, as the artist—who has shown work alongside the likes of Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf and others—explains his philosophy of calligraphy.
