For the first time in ten years, NYC.gov has overhauled their website to provide quicker access to important information. Designed by HUGE, the new layout does away with the cluttered screen and various links and brings the headlines to the top and center of the page, partially inspired by the events of Hurricane Sandy during which residents of New York and the surrounding cities needed a simple yet dependable resource. The icons and links on the site are larger, with a rotating gallery directly in the center of the screen so that users don't have to search through multiple pages to find what they need, and there is also a text-only version for mobile devices that significantly increases load times. It is too soon to call the design great, but it is a clear improvement over the old site and we hope it helps in the times when people need it the most.

Head to NYC.gov to get a feel for the new layout and see what you think.
