Mayor Michael Bloomberg has always been vocal about his opinions on pretty much everything. During a press conference he was asked what he thought about Banksy's recent activity in New York City and the mayor didn't hesitate to speak out against "graffiti" as a whole, calling it "a sign of decay and loss of control." Mayor Bloomberg went on to say that graffiti ruins property and "there are some places for art and there are some places [not for] art. And you running up to somebody’s property or public property and defacing it is not my definition of art."
No one is shocked by Bloomberg's stance on street art. He has been leading the charge against "vandals" for years and would probably outlaw sidewalk chalk if he could. It would be an interesting turn of events if he were somehow involved in the apprehension of the elusive Banksy this month.
