Earlier this month, Ai Weiwei announced that he wants to stage a major exhibition at former high-security prison Alcatraz Island, despite still being unable to leave China. The National Park Service is said to be reviewing his request, but Ai may have posted an image on Instagram that confirms it will happen in 2014. The image shows handcuffs with the words "Ai Weiwei Alcatraz 2014."

Alison Konecki of the For-Site Foundation says, “We are engaged in the process of compliance." Could that process be over? Hopefully an official announcement is on the way soon.
