The French contemporary art gallery Galerie Perrotin is opening their first New York location on September 17 with a party that seems more suited for Las Vegas than the Upper East Side. The kick-off bash will be a carnival-themed extravaganza where artists like KAWS, Daniel Arsham, JR, JeanMichel Othoniel and Johan Cretenare rumored to be running the game booths.

Galerie Perrotin is the gallery that brought the world Takashi Murakami and Maurizio Cattelan, so we only expect big things from their new outpost. The gallery has will occupy 4,300 square feet and three floors in the Bank of New York building at 909 Madison Ave, New York.

“New York remains the capital of the art market, and it is key that we are a part of it,” Emmanuel Perrotin, the founder of the Paris gallery, told Bloomberg.

For one of the gallery's first shows this fall, KAWS will show new work. The artist is fast becoming the man of the year. Last month, he created the Moonman and stage design for the MTV VMAs. Besides his show at Perrotin, KAWS will also have an opening at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia on October 12.
