Vocalists Ninja and Yolandi Visser of Die Antwoord have never been tame. Their music and videos have always been unexpected, sometimes even shocking. Noted photographer Roger Ballen who is also based in South Africa directed the video for the group's song "I Fink U Freeky" and photographed Ninja and Visser for a series that will appear at the Mouche Gallery in Los Angeles through May 10.

Reflecting Ballen's signature black-and-white gritty imagery, the series contains shots of the band members with rats crawling over their bodies and crude wall drawings. However, there is a wonderful statement made in the images within a context of a relatively tame culture. The aesthetic being pushed here reminds us of our liberty to express ourselves what ever way we want to.
