The easygoing Ford model talks dressing down, throwing punches, and her active lifestyle. See if you can keep up.

This feature appears in Complex's June/July 2013 issue.

The term “fashion model” conjures images of tall women in high heels strutting down runways and denying dudes the time of day. Thankfully, Adrianne Ho breaks the mold with all the looks and none of the bitchiness. The 25-year-old Chinese/French Canadian starred in the fall/winter 2012 Union Los Angeles campaign, and has been killing it in brands like Boast, Levi’s, and UNIS. She’s not just stunningly beautiful, she’s also down-to-earth, athletic, and possesses a low-key brand of coolness. That’s what you call a model citizen.

Your personal style is laid-back, but also athletic. Does that reflect your lifestyle?
I’m on the go all the time, running to castings, going to the gym. I incorporate workout pants and sneakers into what I’m wearing so I don’t have to carry them around in my bag. I need to be comfortable. If I’m not comfortable, then I can’t function, and it’s hard for me to show my best self. I don’t know how girls wear heels in New York. You’re running up and down stairs, pushing through people, and trying to get on the subway. And high heels are painful! I only wear those if I’m getting paid!

What do you like to do for exercise?
I love kickboxing: getting kicks, elbows, and knees in.

How long have you been training?
Two-and-a-half years. I started doing Muay Thai a year before I moved to New York.

How do you think you’d fare in a fight?
I would destroy!

Could you take on Ronda Rousey in the ring?
No, but I could run far and throw something.

What if someone stepped to you at a bar?
I wouldn’t risk getting into a fight. I’m sorry, my looks are how I make my money, but I’d defend myself if push came to shove! But the first move I’d make…would be to call the police and let them deal with it.

It sounds like you dig running more than fighting.
I actually want to train for a marathon. I’d love to be able to say I’ve done that.

Can you tolerate running on a treadmill?
It’s too boring. I have to be outside, but I’d rather run on a dirty New York street, through cars and people, than on a beautiful, serene beach looking at the sky. I like the action of the city. There are things to see, things to dodge, and things to jump over. It’s more active. I’m not counting the minutes.

Is going running a legit date?
Definitely! I like being active with friends and people I’m seeing.

How important is it for a guy to be athletic?
You don’t necessarily have to be athletic, but it’s important to be active. I don’t like sitting at home and staying still. I’m not super attracted to six-packs and musclemen, but it’s attractive when someone is willing to push me. If we go running, run faster than me. Push me to run faster!
