Influential painter and graffiti artist Barry McGee will have an exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art(ICA) in Boston. McGee began on the streets of San Francisco, often under the moniker Twist. Serious issues like economic hardships and the AIDS crisis inflicted pain within the city, causing many to protest in the streets. Having been raised on aggressive political works, the artist presents social commentary works that blend graffiti, signage, comics, and many other elements. He straddles the line between street work and straight-forward art. His show will be held April 6 through September 2.
