3XN Architects recently released these photographs of the Blue Planet aquarium in Copenhagen. They designed it to resemble the shapes created by swirling water, and it looks like a giant, metallic whirlpool. The aerial view shows the various water placements within the space. 3XN says,
“We wanted to create an adventure, a story about being carried under water into an unknown world full of fascinating experiences. With this in mind, we came up with the idea of a whirlpool."
When it opens, the aquarium is expected to attract over 700,000 visitors per year.
