Burberry was awarded $100 million in damages this week by the Manhattan Federal Court in a copyright infringement case against Internet counterfeiters. According to WWD, a group of counterfeiters sold at least 22 types of imitation Burberry products that featured the brand's signature check design on websites like yesburberryvision.com and buyburberry.com.

In addition to the huge sum of money, they've also been awarded the domain names of the websites selling the imitation products. Plus, they've been given the power to hold any third-party hosts, including search engines and social media sites, accountable for their association with any infringement sites.

Counterfeiters be ware.
