Pop Art By Lobo

Brazilian flavor, international subjects.

Sao Paulo-native Lobo spent years away from his home town. His international influence shines through in pop art works that pull together cultural icons from around the globe. Sometimes you'll see Robert Indiana sitting with the famous Las Vegas sign. And, at times the massive Christ the Redeemer statue mingles with rock stars. In short, Lobo deftly mixes inspirations (though there are clear odes to Lichtenstein and Warhol) in a way that is perhaps more decorative than artistic. However, the bold color schemes make up for some of the kitsch. Click the thumbs to see more. [Abduzeedo]
