Ruthless Red Sox Fans Chant 'She Said No!' After Failed Proposal at Game

Red Sox fans mocked one of their own with a "she said no!" chant after a man's marriage proposal was rejected.

We would make fun of this guy for proposing on a Jumbotron at a baseball game but, as you can tell from the headline, he had a rough enough time on Sunday night at Fenway Park. We say that because that's the time and place where he decided he was going to get on a knee and ask his girlfriend(?) if she would want to spend the rest of her life with him. It did not go over well:

The scoreboard proposal at Fenway may have just gone awry. There was no hug, the camera cut away and the crowd groaned.

As if that wasn't bad enough, at least a portion of the crowd of nearly 37,000 began to rub it in with some "she said no!" chants:

Girl just said "no" it seems on engagement Jumbotron segment at Fenway Park. Crowd chanting "she said no".

As SB Nation points out, there was no video of the actual popping of the question (at least none that has surfaced) but there was this brief glimpse of the aftermath, which saw a minor quarrel between the couple in the presence of a camera guy and a security guard who were stuck on the catwalk with them:

At the Red Sox game and a marriage proposal came across the big screen and the girl said no. Feel so bad for the dude but still so funny

A few fans in attendance also shared the rejection with their social media followers:

I'm like 90 percent sure I saw a proposal refusal at the Red Sox game.

Some dude at the Red Sox just got denied on a marriage proposal on the jumbotron 😬😬

Kudos to the woman who drew a line in the sand and said no to the proposal at Fenway. Let this be the beginning of the end for this.

Frankly, given how freaking unromantic it is to propose in the presence of over-the-top hecklers and ballplayers grabbing their crotch every four seconds, it's kind of surprising that this doesn't happen more often.

Take this as a cautionary tale.
