Nike are out to make the impossible possible.

On Saturday May 6 at 5:45 a.m. in Monza, Italy, Eliud Kipchoge, Lelisa Desisa and Zersenay Tadese will attempt to break the two-hour marathon barrier for the first time ever.

Three of the planet's elite long-distance runners have been recruited to rewrite the history books by shaving two minutes and 58 seconds of the current world-record marathon time. Nike have put together a team of scientists to ensure the athletes are in perfect condition for the attempt, including being equipped with the innovation-fuelled Nike Vaporfly Elite.

The world record attempt – named #Breaking2 – will be closed to the public but anyone with internet access can be part of the excitement by tuning into Nike's live stream of the attempt.

Live Breaking2 coverage will begin about 15 minutes before race start (4.45am UK time). Sal Masekela will host the show while Paula Radcliffe, Craig Masback and Kevin Hart will provide commentary.

This could be legendary.
