LaVar Ball Goes Off on Fox Sports Reporter in 'Sexist' Rant: 'Stay in Your Lane'

LaVar Ball was involved in a tense on-air interaction with Fox Sports 1 host Kristine Leahy on Wednesday afternoon.

Ball: I’ve sold a good amount, to me. Like I said, there’s different amounts.

LaVar Ball has become a staple on Fox Sports 1 over the course of the last few months. While his appearances on ESPN have been limited, it feels like he’s on FS1’s Undisputed and The Herd with Colin Cowherd at least once a week now. But there’s a good chance he might see his number of FS1 appearances go way down after what happened live on the air on Wednesday afternoon.

While on The Herd, Ball was asked by Colin Cowherd and his co-host Kristine Leahy about the sales for his son Lonzo’s new Big Baller Brand sneakers. The BBB sales have been a hot topic over the last week, so the questions about them shouldn’t have come as a surprise to Ball. But for whatever reason, he wasn’t receptive—at all—to Leahy asking him how many pairs of BBB sneakers he has sold. It sounded like Ball had heard Leahy criticizing the BBB brand as a whole earlier and didn’t want to have anything to do with her. So he was completely dismissive of Leahy and refused to interact with her. He kept his back to her the whole time, told her, "Stay in your lane," and even suggested that Big Baller Brand is not for women.

Here’s a transcript of the conversation Cowherd, Leahy, and Ball had:

Lavar Ball: "Jason Whitlock can't comment on anything but snacks."

In addition to dismissing Leahy's question, Ball also seemed to dismiss the fact that BBB does have women's products on its site:

Ball: I never disrespect women. But I’ll tell you what. If you act like that, guess what? Something’s coming to you.

Later in the segment, Ball also took a shot at FS1 host Jason Whitlock, who was not in the studio for The Herd. He took aim at Whitlock for criticizing his son and the BBB brand:

Lavar Ball's statement to a female reporter to "stay in your lane" is blatantly sexist and rude. Networks, please stop working with him.

Additionally, Ball went back-and-forth with Leahy again a short time later and seemed to make a threat towards her:

So Lavar Ball is sexist. Is anyone surprised? Cue the faux outage. Who cares. He's trying to sell sneakers and tees. Big deal.

Ball has said and done some off-the-wall things on live TV this spring, but this was easily his most uncomfortable—and sexist—moment yet. A detail that didn't seem to be lost on Twitter:

Wow Lavar Ball is extremely disrespectful right now to @KristineLeahy on The Herd. I can't believe what I'm watching...

@KristineLeahy You just owned #LaVarBall on @TheHerd, who is a sexist lout. Can't wait for @WhitlockJason's retort on #SpeakForYourself.

— Drew Brown (@drewmbrown) May 17, 2017

@TheHerd Lavar Ball just dropped several notches with his sexist attitude towards Kristine. Please call him out on that

Wait a minute, you're telling me LaVar Ball said something sexist and offensive?? Are we talking about the same LaVar Ball here? pic.twitter.com/K5nMGZXzgM

So Lavar Ball is a pretty big piece of garbage, huh?

It’d be surprising to see FS1 invite him back anytime soon.
