Adam Vinatieri watches as his huge bonus slips through his fingers.

If you thought you have made some costly mistakes in your life, you should step into the right shoe of Adam Vinatieri. Coming into Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Vinatieri had made 26 out of 29 field goal attempts, or 89.7 percent. If the Indianapolis Colts kicker reached the 90 percent mark by the end of the season, he would have received a $500,000 bonus, thanks to a clause in his contract.

Midway through the second quarter, Vinatieri hit the right upright, and missed on a 48-yard field goal attempt. Vinatieri would go on to convert on a 45-yarder in the Colts' ensuing possession, but after performing so well in the previous 15 games, he had to still feel the sting that comes with missing out on a half of a million dollar check. The only thing softening the blow for him right now is the fact that he's still one of the highest paid kickers in the league, earning $3.25 million this year, per Spotrac.

For Vinatieri, it's another solid season in the NFL. After finishing up his 21st year in the league, it's hard to see him hanging up his cleats for good. We expect to see him back out there in 2017, making field goals, and taking aim at that damn $500,000 bonus.
