Former NFL wide receiver P.K. Sam went on Twitter on Wednesday to announce the 10-year anniversary of the time he was cut by head coach Nick Saban and the Dolphins for leaving Miami to visit his dying father.

Sam claims that he was close to being placed on the active roster, but when he chose to stay by his father's side in his final days, Saban got upset and cut Sam from the team.

We may never get a response from Saban, so the real situation will perhaps never become clear.

After getting selected by the Patriots in the fifth round of the 2004 Draft, Sam played one season on New England's 53-man roster, and was a member of the team that defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX. The following year, the former Florida State product spent the entire 2005 campaign on the team's practice squad. Over the next two years, Sam bounced around the practice squads of the Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, and Oakland Raiders before playing in the Canadian Football League.
