Just when you thought that there were too many sequels in production, we get Deflategate: Part Deux.

According to the New York Post, the Giants have sent two game balls from their 24-14 loss in Pittsburgh to the NFL in the hopes of finding out whether they were underinflated. The league wanted no part of a repeat of the firestorm that they went through last time when the Colts accused the New England Patriots of ball-related shenanigans.

Fox Sports is reporting that the Giants were able to test the balls themselves, as they got a hold of them after two Steeler turnovers. After finding them to be light and sending them to the NFL offices, the league reportedly listened to New York and deduced that there were no issues with the footballs. This whole thing has been exhausting already.

In an attempt to dispel rumors of yet another Deflategate, the league issued a statement. "The officiating game ball procedures were followed and there were no chain of command issues," it said. "All footballs were in compliance and no formal complaint was filed by the Giants with our office."

Both the Giants and the Steelers are huge legacy franchises in the NFL run by blue blood families that are influential throughout the league. While playoff positioning was on the line, this doesn’t come close to the actual playoff implications that the Patriots case had attached to them. Ben McAdoo had to—at the very least least—kick the tires on this one. But it looks like this round of accusations had the wind knocked out of it before it could really get rolling.
