Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall was one of a number of NFL players to protest social and racial injustices by taking a knee during the National Anthem prior to several of his team's games this year. Marshall, who was a college teammate with Colin Kaepernick, also vowed to donate $300 to community organizations for every tackle he recorded this season. He ultimately ended his pre-game demonstrations in Week 9 after saying he's witnessed progress in the Denver Police Department.

But despite that decision, Marshall is still apparently receiving hate mail from those who don't agree with him taking a knee during the national anthem. He shared one particular letter that he received recently on Instagram on Friday, and while it's one of the worst things you'll read today, it's also important for people to see exactly what someone like Marshall is being subjected to right now. Here is the letter Marshall shared:

If you can't read the handwriting above, we have also written the letter out below. We have not changed any of the language that was used or censored it in any way:

HELLO MR MARSHALL
HOW ARE YOU? YOU ARE A GREAT FOOTBALL PLAYER MR MARSHALL, NO YOU ARE NOT! YOU ARE A WORTHLESS FUCKING NIGGER WHO IS A SPOILED FUCKING JIGABOO!! IF YOU ARE SOOO UNHAPPY WITH AMERICA, TURN IN YOUR "MILLIONS" AND MOVE BACK TO THE JUNGLE, YOU FUCKING GORILLA/MONKEY!! WE HATE YOU AND YOUR "KIND" OF NIGGERS!! YOU BLACK FUCKING PORCH MONKEY YOUR NAME SHOULD BE SASABO. YOUR TIME IS COMING, WATCH OUT NIGGER!!

Marshall also posted a "Part 2" to the letter:

Here is what that portion of the letter said:

YOU GIVE A BAD NAME TO GOOD BLACK FOLK BY YOUR JIGABOO ACTIONS. WE ARE "CHANNELING" A DEVASTATING HARD HIT FOR YOU!! SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU AN INVALID IN A WHEEL CHAIR!! HHA HA HA HA HA HA H

The letter isn't signed, and it's unclear if there was a return address on it, though we would highly doubt it.

Marshall responded by saying that the letter is one of the main reasons he has taken the stances he has this season. "The hatred by some against people of color is one of the reasons we are where we're at in the world today," he wrote, "and they wonder why we feel the way we do and take the stances that we take. I received this letter at work."

Marshall's teammate C.J. Anderson also chimed in on social media and expressed solidarity with his fellow Broncos player:

Sadly, it's not really all that surprising that Marshall received this letter. But it does make you lose a little bit more faith in humanity.
