Former NFL running back Isaiah Pead is in critical condition following a single-car accident early Saturday morning. Pead, 26, was driving his 2011 Cadillac CTS when the car went through a guardrail on Interstate 670 in Columbus, Ohio, according to NBC4 in Columbus. Pead, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. Both Pead, and the passenger, Wesley Richardson, were rushed to Grant Medical Center. Richardson is currently in stable condition. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Pead was undergoing surgery this morning.

Since the news, many friends and former teammates have offered up their prayers, and expressed words of encouragement towards Pead.

Pead was selected in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and spent the first three seasons of his career with the St. Louis Rams. Following a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the former Cincinnati Bearcats running back signed with the Miami Dolphins earlier this year. Pead was released by the Dolphins last month.
