The Warriors beat the Hawks 105-100 on Monday night, and they did so due in large part to the defensive prowess of Draymond Green. Green—who has spoken publicly about wanting to win the Defensive Player of the Year award this season in recent weeks—recorded two big blocks in the final 43 seconds of the game to help Golden State eek out a win over Atlanta. And during his post-game press conference, he spoke about how he is personally offended by those who have suggested that the Warriors got worse on the defensive side of the ball when they signed Kevin Durant and let some of their bigger bodies go in free agency.
He also talked about how the perceived slights against the Warriors’ team defense have lit a fire under him and made him a DPOY candidate once again.
"I wouldn’t necessarily say I have something to prove for that award," he said, "more so that people have kind of counted our defense out."
Not everyone celebrated Green’s defensive performance on Monday night, though. As you can see at the end of this clip, Green punctuated his performance by dancing on the court:
And that didn’t sit well with Hawks’ Hall of Fame radio announcer Steve Holman, who burned Green at the end of the game as he danced. He had this to say:
Ouch. Holman is, of course, referring to this. And some Warriors supporters went in on him for saying what he did:
No word on what Green thought about what Holman said, but we wouldn't expect it to stop him from dancing anytime soon.
