Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones spoke his mind when ESPN asked him about Ezekiel Elliott, the Cowboys’ stud rookie running back. Though Elliott has posted impressive numbers of 412 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and three touchdowns, Pacman is not overly impressed.
Pacman has reviewed tape all week for the Bengals-Cowboys game Sunday. He gives less credit to the potential Offensive Rookie of the Year than Dallas’ offensive line.
“If you go back and look at some of the film, some of the holes are so wide open that my little girl could run through there,” Jones told ESPN.
The Cowboys had three o-linemen make the Pro Bowl last year. They have the third-most rushing yards in the league this season, and they’ve only given up six sacks, tied for the third-lowest total in the league.
Jones also said the defenses Dallas has faced have been weak. With that being said, he did give Elliott a little credit.
“I think a couple teams they played were very undisciplined when it comes to gaps,” Jones said. “But I take my hat off to the guy, he’s been playing pretty good.”
Jones is never shy to speak his mind, so his words undermining Elliott’s success through four games shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, Elliott is also unafraid of challenging a defender in the open field.
Don’t be surprised if he puts his shoulder into Jones if they go head-to-head this weekend.
