Nike Football are all in on EA Sports FIFA 17.
With the release of the biggest football video game in the world just days away, Nike has unveiled a unique collaboration with EA Sports that sees the Mercurial Superfly boot get a 16-bit makeover.
The boot aims to highlight the evolution of football in the virtual world and reality since the first FIFA launched in 1994, from the 16-bit graphics of the mid-nineties through to today's hi-def output.
The EA SPORTS logo appears on the sockliner, lace and heel.
As a nod to the advancements in gaming technology, the medial side of the boot has a pixelated 16-bit graphic that transitions to high-definition on the lateral side. The EA SPORTS logo appears on the sockliner, lace and heel.
A special Mercurial logo was designed just for this boot and its accompanying shoebox and bag. Much like the upper, the logo also transitions from high definition to 16-bit. A golden thread through the laces and an iridescent plate completes the design.
Nike are only producing 1,500 pairs of the boots.
In game, the virtual boot will become available September 22 in the EA SPORTS Football Club Catalog (unlocked at level 7). The Mercurial x EA SPORTS boots will be available on September 26 from Nike Football App and Nike.com. Limited to 1,500 pairs, each boot is individually numbered on the heel.
