Four robbers got more than they bargained for when they tried to jump former NFL linebacker Napoleon Harris. Harris, 37, not only fought them off, but he chased them back to their vehicle and memorized details of the car.

Harris, who played for the Raiders, Vikings, and Chiefs during his seven-year NFL career, called 911 and gave those details to the police, who chased the men down.

The story doesn’t stop there, though. It turns out three of the four robbers were also believed to be involved in an ongoing murder investigation.

Harris was delivering a pizza late at night from one of the Chicago-area restaurants he owns. (He’s also on the Illinois State Senate.) He had sent his driver home and offered to handle deliveries for the rest of the night. An order came in on the phone, but the delivery was slated to go to a vacant address. The men who placed the order were planning to rob the driver.

After Harris chased them down, the men ditched their getaway car. Police tracked it down, though, and found blood inside. A DNA test revealed the blood belonged to Lester Jones, a man who was found dead this month after an apparent robbery and murder, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The three robbers who were involved in the case are now being charged with murder. So, yeah, Harris essentially captured three murderers.

Memo to all would-be pizza delivery robbers: don’t do it. There may be a former NFL linebacker coming for you.
