During one of his camps in the Bay Area back in February, Marshawn Lynch played some football with Wolverine star Hugh Jackman and taunted him on the field by yelling, "This is a little different than rugby, mate!" On Wednesday, Lynch got the chance to see what rugby is all about during a brief training session with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Lynch is in Australia right now helping Cal, the team he played for in college, prepare for their season-opening game against Hawaii on Friday night. He has been spotted taking reps as the scout team running back during Cal practices:
He has also been dishing out advice to some of the Cal players during their preparations for their game against Hawaii (and as this tweet points out, it has, in fact, been lit):
But Lynch stepped off the football field for a little while on Wednesday to meet with players from the Rabbitohs and to learn more about the sport of rugby. He didn’t put in a full practice or anything, but he did give us a glimpse into what it might look like if he attempted to play rugby for real:
He even asked several Rabbitohs players about what he would be allowed to do when he scored:
Lynch also had some fun at the expense of an Australian reporter doing a piece on Beast Mode’s trip to Australia:
And when it was all said and done, Lynch wished the Rabbitohs luck in their next match before getting back to business with Cal:
Cal and Hawaii play at 10 p.m. on ESPN on Friday night, and there’s a very good chance Lynch will make at least a few appearances on TV before the game is over.
