NFL players are never, ever, ever, ever happy with their rating in Madden. And even when the overall rating is accurate, they'll have an issue with something ridiculous, like their player's build. It's the type of job where you can never win, and the video game franchise is finding that out once again, thanks to Dez Bryant.
Following an injury-plagued 2015 campaign in which he played just one game with Tony Romo, Dez set career lows in catches (31), receiving yards (401), and touchdowns (3). While the poor numbers were seemingly out of his control, Bryant's rating suffered, and after being a 96 overall in Madden 16, he was downgraded to a 90 rating this year.
That rating places Bryant eighth among wide receivers with Antonio Brown (97), Julio Jones (96), A.J. Green (93), Odell Beckham Jr. (93), DeAndre Hopkins (93), Larry Fitzgerald (91) and Alshon Jeffery (91) in front of him. As expected, Dez wasn't happy about it and jokingly told Jon Machota of The Dallas News how he felt about the disrespectful rating. "I play Madden, I [expletive] love Madden," Bryant said. "They would do me like that? Oh my God. That is an insult, like why would you do that to me? How much I love y'all. Like what? Not John Madden, because I love him. It's the [video game] developers."
Bryant isn't too concerned about what he sees as a low rating because he knows that by the next update, it's going to go up. "We’re just going to see what happens. Like I told Madden, they put me at 90, I’m not worried about that," Dez said. "That rating going to shoot up real quick, you best believe that."
