Guy Fieri did an excellent interview with First We Feast this week that featured him answering some of life's most pressing questions. You know, like, "Drake or Joe Budden"? And "Chick-fil-A or Bojangles"? And "Crocs or flip-flops"? You get the point...

But one of the best questions Fieri was asked—at least for our purposes—was "Steph Curry or Kevin Durant"? A month ago, it would have been an easy question for Fieri to answer. He's a Warriors fan, so it would have been Curry. But now that Curry and KD have teamed up, it was a little like asking Fieri to pick which one of his two sons he likes better. Not easy!

Anyway, Fieri ended up settling on KD, but that wasn't the most interesting part of his answer. After picking the former Thunder player, Fieri went on to explain how he actually helped recruit KD to come to Golden State. Granted, he never actually spoke to him and, truthfully, we doubt KD spent any time thinking about Fieri's pitch. But still! Fieri did more than most other celebrities who have helped "recruit" free agents in the past, so you've gotta give him some credit here, right?

Here's the explanation Fieri gave to FWF:

First We Feast: Steph Curry or Kevin Durant?
Fieri says: Unfair! [Long pause.] I can say it without being guilty because he's now a Warrior: KD. It's not an easy decision, and should have just as well not said anything. Steph is phenomenal. KD is phenomenal. They both have their uniqueness about them. Maybe I'm in the KD moment now because he's coming to the team. I never...well, I shouldn't say I never thought it would happen. I remember telling his agent during the Playoffs, "I know he's coming up, you've gotta get him to Golden State."
First We Feast: Wait a second—you predicted it would happen?
Fieri says: You can ask his agent, I said it to him during the Playoffs. I even have the text. I said, "It's coming up, I want him, you gotta bring him." And he was laughing—yeah, yeah, yeah—and he blew me off. [Then later on] I was away from my cell phone, out on the boat, and I was able to get a signal. In came a note from my buddy: "KD GS," and I went arghhhhhh! I went and woke up the kids.

Fieri isn't the only celebrity who pitched KD. Tom Brady tried. Jay Z did, too. But he's one of the only ones who was successful and, as a bonus, he was one of the first people to find out where KD was going to sign. Steph Curry owes him a thank you, even if Fieri did just pick KD over him.
